Everyone likes receiving gifts of some form, and giving gifts to people you care about is more popular than ever in the modern world. When there are big events like a housewarming party, a pillow is considered to be a great gift, but not a gift that is easily wrapped. However, if you are willing to spend some effort in wrapping a pillow, it will definitely add an extra special touch to your gift that makes it more personal and attractive.

Is a pillow a good gift

Pillows are fluffy, cozy, and delightful to begin with. There is a hint of intimacy when it comes to gifting a pillow since that is the one item people go to sleep with, and is seen every day when they wake up. If you are looking for a gift that expresses the close relationship between you and the receiver, consider getting them a pillow. It is the best gift to give to your close friends, family members, and your other half.

A pillow is an excellent gift for occasions like housewarmings because it will save the host the trouble of finding a new pillow and will brighten up their entire living area. It's also safe to say that pillows make a thoughtful gift because it's something the receiver will use every day.

Since pillows are used frequently, there is a need to purchase new ones on a regular basis. You can gift someone a pillow on no occasion at all, just to remind them how much they mean to you.

All in all, buying a pillow for your close friends or family members is a kind and fantastic gift idea.

What types of pillows are best for gifting

While pillows are soft and delightful, there is more to choosing a suitable and practical pillow for your receiver. It depends greatly on their sleeping habits, living space, bed size, aesthetics, etc. With all of the factors considered, you’ll quickly realize that choosing a perfect pillow is not a task to be taken for granted at all.

To start choosing a pillow, you must first realize that each pillow has a specific shape, size, material, price, coolness and firmness - different people will have very different opinions on what a good pillow is, so make sure you do your research! For example, people with back or neck pain would prefer a firmer pillow than regular people do. On the contrary, people who usually sleep on their stomachs love getting a pillow with soft or medium hardness.

Of course, be mindful of the place and the time the receiver needs to put a pillow into use since pillows are not always used for sleeping. They can be used for decorating - an interesting touch for their sofas, perhaps; or pain relief - mostly for office workers who need to sit in a place for long hours.

How to wrap a pillow for a gift

Make sure you have all the tools before wrapping the gifts!

Make sure you have all the tools before wrapping the gifts!

Now that you have your pillow in hand, but it is not a gift until you wrap it. Before we get into action, look at the following list to see what you need for a gift-wrapping session:

  • A box that fits the pillow, made of whatever materials are available. It doesn’t have to be in perfect condition, but it’d be better if the box doesn’t look beat up.
  • Wrapping cloth or wrapping paper, the color of your choosing.
  • A sharp, clean scissor. The scissor should not have rust on the blade.
  • Tape or glue.
  • Some ribbons. Make sure they are not tattered.
  • A gift tag with the receiver’s name on it.

Do you have all the tools? Great! Let’s get down to business!

Step 1: Put your pillow inside the box.

This step is easy enough, but make sure you don’t just stuff the poor thing inside and leave it crumbling there. Put one side of the pillow in first, and use your hand to push the other end down gently to keep it smooth and tidy. Trust us, it’ll be a prettier sight for your receiver when they open the gift.

After putting the pillow inside, secure the gift by sealing it before moving on to the next step.

Step 2: Measure and cut the wrapping paper.

Put the box in the center of the wrapping cloth or paper, and both of them on a flat surface. Proceed to measure how big you need the wrapping paper to be, but keep in mind that the wrapping paper needs to cover every side of the box.

It doesn’t have to look perfect - it’s the love you put into it does. Even if the gift is a bit messy, it’s the intention that shines through and we are sure that the receiver knows it.

After finishing measuring the wrapping paper, it’s time to cut out the extra part of the paper that you don’t need since you’d want the gift to be nice and neat. Just remember - you can always trim the paper if only there’s space to trim, try not to overcut it or you’d end up realizing the rest of the paper can not cover up your gift.

Step 3: Fold and tape the wrapping paper.

Gently fold the wrapping paper to the corners of the box’s sides and use tape to keep them in place. Make sure that there is no spare edge of the wrapping paper remaining after you finish. Better yet, before putting the paper together, perform some beta-wrapping by folding everything to see if you have any extra edges.

Do not use so much glue or tape unless you intentionally want the gift to be difficult to open.

Step 4: Place your ribbon.

What is a gift without a ribbon? Wrap a ribbon of your choice around the present and tie a bow on top. Be sure that there is no tattered sign visible on any part of the ribbon, especially on the bow.

Step 5: Add the gift tag

The finishing touch of the present is the gift tag, mentioning directly the name of the receiver in your handwriting. You can glue it on the gift where it can clearly be seen, or if you are feeling a little classy, have it tied under the bow with a small envelope expressing your best wishes to them on this remarkable occasion.

A nice, stylish pillow as a gift is something everyone cherishes, especially on occasions like housewarming or redecorating a home. It is a popular, well-loved gift that will certainly win over whoever receives it.
