How to effectively clean my doormat?

Before soaking your doormat, dust it off by using a broom or a vacuum cleaner. Better yet, use a broom and carefully wipe any visible dirt off and then vacuum the smaller soil that can not be cleaned at first. If you have a pet, use a stiff brush to remove the pet hair before moving on to the next step. Then, shake off the remaining dirt in the mat and move on to damp it with water.

1. Fiber mat

Surprisingly, even when these doormats are made with natural or manmade fiber, they are strong and sturdy enough to be put in a washing machine - check the manufacturer's instructions. Otherwise, washing it with a brush and soap is enough to freshen this type of mat. 

2. Coir mat

Mats made with coir usually come with cute, lovely designs and colors, but are advised against being put in a washing machine due to its sturdiness and breakable coir fiber. If no commercial mat-cleaning tools are available, general cleaning with soap and water across the mat should be more than sufficient for a nice, refreshing doormat.

3. Hand hooked mat

Made with care and dedication, mats that are hand hooked are strongly recommended to be brushed with a broom or a vacuum and not to be put in the water under any circumstances. If there are stains on the mat, use a stain remover and gently wipe it with a towel. Most people point out that a hand hooked mat is to be kept away from bathrooms and restrooms, but not strong enough to be used as an outdoor doormat. 

4. Rubber base mat
